WHO lifts travel advice for Taiwan province,
China
17 June 2003 -- From today, WHO is lifting its
recommendation that people postpone all but essential travel to Taiwan
province, China. The travel advisory was issued on 21 May 2003, in order
to contain the international spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(SARS). Improvements in case detection, infection control, and the tracing
and follow-up of contacts have led to a drop in the daily number of new
SARS cases, and indicate that the disease is no longer a threat to international
travellers to the area.
